Hey Commanders,

Siobhan here! I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about Tier 12 that I’ve recently discovered.

Today, I’m pleased to introduce Eddball, War Machines’ game designer, who will take us through the inspiration and challenges behind introducing the Abrams X and PL-01 to the War Machines battlefield.

Let’s dive into the exciting details!

Siobhan: Hey Eddball! Thank you so much for taking part in this Q&A, I am sure our Commanders are just as excited as I am to find out more about the behind the scenes of T12’s creation. Let’s get to it!

Eddball: Thanks so much for having me, Siobhan! I’m really excited to be here and share some insights with our amazing community. Launching Tier 12 is a huge milestone for us – it’s the result of months of hard work, collaboration, and passion from the whole team. We’ve poured so much into making T12 something special, and we couldn’t wait to get it into the hands of our Commanders. Let’s dive into all the details, I’m ready to spill the beans!

Siobhan: Can you guide us through the research and development process for designing Tier 12? Were there any challenges during production, and how did you address them?

Eddball: Oh, absolutely – developing Tier 12 was an incredible experience, but it wasn’t without its challenges. The Abrams X and PL-01 are both futuristic, next-level tanks, but there’s a twist: neither of them has actually hit the battlefield in real life yet! That made things both exciting and tricky for us.

For the Abrams X, the challenge was that this tank isn’t expected to be fully operational until around 2030. That left us piecing together details from prototypes, tech specs, and military presentations. It’s a hybrid tank with an emphasis on mobility, efficiency, and stealth, so we made sure its in-game version reflects that.

The PL-01 is a different beast altogether. Its futuristic, stealth-oriented design is unlike anything else in the game, but it’s still just a concept in the real world. We leaned heavily into its sleek appearance.

Siobhan: What can you share about the new tanks? How do the Abrams X and PL01 compare to the tanks already available in the game?

Eddball: The Abrams X and PL-01 are absolute powerhouses, game-changers in every sense of the word. They’re faster, stronger, and smarter than anything else on the battlefield, thanks to their cutting-edge designs and superior tech skills.

Compared to other tanks in the game, these two raise the bar. Tier 12 doesn’t just add more power – it changes the way players approach combat. The tech skills alone will have players rethinking their strategies, whether they’re leading the charge or playing it smart and sneaky.

What really sets Tier 12 apart, though, is its tech edge. These tanks aren’t just stronger and faster; they shine because of their advanced tech skills, which make them the ultimate tools of destruction on the battlefield. Figuring out how to balance these powerhouse tanks while keeping gameplay fun was a challenge, but it’s one we’re incredibly proud to have overcome.

Siobhan: A little birdie told me you call the Tier 12 tanks ‘monster tanks’, is that the reason why?

Eddball: That’s exactly why we call them monster tanks! While we didn’t add any brand-new tech skills for this tier, we carefully selected the most powerful and game-changing skills available. These tanks are loaded with a “greatest hits” lineup of abilities that make them absolute beasts on the battlefield.

For example, the Abrams X boasts an impressive lineup of tech skills that make it a true battlefield juggernaut. Its survivability is unmatched thanks to abilities like Immortal, which lets it narrowly avoid destruction, and Ricochet, which reduces damage from incoming shots. On the offensive side, skills like Wildfire and Ferocious increase its damage output significantly, while Regeneration ensures it stays in the fight longer by repairing itself when out of combat. This tank is built to dominate under pressure, dealing damage relentlessly while shrugging off attacks.

  4. Ricochet
  5. Wildfire
  6. Ferocious
  7. Regeneration
  8. Reactive Armor

Meanwhile, the PL-01 emphasizes agility and adaptability, making it perfect for commanders who prefer a more tactical approach. Defensive abilities like Victory Aegis and Controlled Damage provide safety nets during intense battles, while offensive tech like Charged Shot rewards precision and Flamethrower adds a fiery edge to its arsenal. Skills like Armored Cavalry round out its versatility by boosting both durability and damage potential. It’s an incredibly well-rounded tank that thrives on creative and strategic gameplay.

When you put it all together, these tanks are in a league of their own. They’re not just stronger – they’re smarter, sharper, and downright monstrous in the best way possible!

Siobhan: Couldn’t help but notice how awesome (and different) the new medal looks! What inspired this design?

Eddball: Ah, you’ve spotted it! The Tier 12 medal design was definitely something special for us to create, and we wanted it to capture the spirit of these incredible tanks. The medal’s design, featuring three elite hunting dogs, was inspired by the idea of highly trained, adaptable beasts. These dogs are symbols of precision, resilience, and tenacity – traits that define both the Abrams X and the PL-01.

Just like these tanks, the hunting dogs are built to excel in any environment, whether it’s navigating urban chaos or traversing rugged natural terrain. They’re relentless in their pursuit, with a laser focus on their target and the stamina to keep going no matter what’s thrown their way. It felt like the perfect metaphor for the sheer power and adaptability of our new “monster tanks.” Plus, let’s be honest – they look incredibly fierce and cool, which is exactly the vibe we were going for!

Siobhan: Thank you so much for participating in this session, Eddball! Your insights were incredibly valuable, and it was a pleasure having you with us.
