Introducing Trophies Per Champion

A New Way to Progress and Master the Game

We’re thrilled to announce a major update that will enhance your gaming experience: Trophies Per Champion. This change opens up exciting new opportunities for progression, variety, and strategy. From now on progression will be more rewarding, while keeping your favorite Champions (formerly called Characters) as powerful as ever.

In the previous system, your progression was tied to the power of your most advanced Champion, limiting gameplay variety and eventually making players feel stuck. In the new system each Champion has its own trophies, giving you more freedom to experiment with different Champions and playstyles, with a clear improvement in the overall progression.

Migration

To ensure that this transition is smooth and fair for all players, here’s how the migration to the new system will work:

  • Main Champion: The Champion you’ve played the most in recent matches will inherit your current number of trophies. This means your favorite Champion’s progress will remain unchanged.
  • Other Champions: Each of your other Champions will receive a number of trophies based on their level and your former account trophies. This ensures that all your Champions are positioned to continue progressing at a comfortable pace.

Some players might notice that they will change their current tour in the migration, sometimes advancing tours, sometimes dropping tours. This can happen depending on your previous account trophies, the amount of unlocked champions and their levels. To mitigate potential negative impacts, you’ll be able to claim prizes in the new trophy road from the start of your new allocated tour onwards.

New progression:

The main changes related to progression in this new system are:

  • New Account Trophies: Your  account trophies will now be the sum of all your Champions’ trophies, and it will be the way to progress through tours.
  • Tour Progression: We’ve also updated tour progression to support this new system. The Trophy Road prizes have been updated with significantly more prizes! Get ready to master all Champions and playstyles to progress further into tours and collect them all.
  • Matchmaking: To adapt to this new system, matchmaking will now be based on the trophies of the Champion you’re playing: You’ll face opponents with a Champion with similar trophy levels than yours, keeping matches exciting and balanced. All the other matchmaking rules will stay the same.

Level Cap

To further enhance balance and reward progression, we’re introducing a new equipment-level cap. With this change, equipments can only be used at their full potential when equipped by a Champion of the same or higher level. This creates a more balanced and meaningful progression as you level up your Champions to use their best equipment effectively. However, your “star” character (the one with the highest trophy count ever) will be exempt from this rule and can make use of equipments at any level.

Star Character

The “star” character is the Champion that has reached the highest number of trophies in your account’s history. This Champion gets special treatment:

  • Your Star Champion is exempt from the level cap rule, meaning they can wield high-level gear even if they are not yet leveled up to match the item’s level.
  • If a different Champion surpasses the current Star Champion’s highest trophy count, they will become the new Star and inherit these benefits.

This system ensures that your top-performing Champion remains powerful and equipped with the best gear, even as you explore other Champions and playstyles.

UI Updates: A New Champions Tab

With these exciting changes, we’ve also updated the game’s User Interface to make it easier for you to manage your Champions. The new Champions Tab replaces the previous lineup tab. Now each Champion will have their own loadout, giving you more flexibility. Be sure to experiment with different combinations of equipments and Signature Moves for each Champion to achieve their full potential!

Trophy Reset Rule Update

The trophy reset rule, which previously only applied to the Grand Tour, will now happen on a per Champion basis. At the end of each Grand Tour season, any Champion with over 2200 trophies will have some of their trophies reset, following the same rules as before. This ensures that high-level competition remains fresh and challenging.

Looking Ahead

Expect new exiting stuff in this new system in the coming weeks: more incentives to master all Champions, a more competitive experience in the Grand Tour, enhancements to the deck building system and much more!
